Commercial Projects

New Life Church, Colorado Springs, CO

Project Description:

The total church site is approximately 33 acres and is constructing a 200,000 square foot 6500 seat auditorium addition. The existing church building is 100,000 square feet. This project involved the abandonment of a state highway right of way and the construction of a 66' right of way, 3 to 5 lane collector road to be released to the City of Colorado Springs . This project also included a 10' trail extension along a section of the La Foret Trail. An existing topographic survey was performed for the church site. The survey provided the site with the existing grades, and accurate existing structure locations with dimensions, as well as the existing building finished floor elevation.

On-site improvements involved re-grading the 33 acre site to accommodate the new building expansion. ADA specifications were incorporated in all design facets of the project. The new grading plan also included the design of a 2.3 acre-foot detention pond. JR Engineering also provided a set of earthworks drawings and calculations.

The water line was re-aligned to avoid conflicts with the proposed building foundation. Furthermore, fire hydrant relocation was required to meet the Fire Department's criteria on the new site plan. Sanitary sewer was designed with an 8” mainline from the street to the building.

An extensive storm system was also incorporated on the site. A series of area drains were placed around the site parking lot to convey surface flows to the proposed pond. This system also incorporated peripheral systems as well. The new site driveway connections to the adjacent streets required either storm culverts or culvert extensions.
