Structural Project
Cherry Creek Pedestrian Connection, Denver, CO
Nature of Work:
City of Denver
Project Description:
JR was responsible for preparing construction
bid documents for a 10' pedestrian trail between the Cherry
Creek Trail and the east side of Colorado Boulevard . The trail
also extended along the east side of Colorado Boulevard North
to the existing walk, adjacent to the Target Store. The City
received approval for Transportation Improvement Project (TIP)
funding for this project to eliminate an unsafe pedestrian crossing.
Prior to construction, a sidewalk connection existed on the west side of Colorado Boulevard to the Cherry Creek Trail that required pedestrians to cross Colorado Boulevard at Virginia Avenue to gain access to the businesses located on the east side. The intersection is signalized at Virginia ; however, the intersection experiences high volumes of turning movements that created an unsafe condition for pedestrians crossing Colorado Boulevard.
