2006 News and EventsFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JR Engineering Hosts Golf Tournament Raising Funds for Children's Hospital Foundation
Children's Hospital has been ranked as one of the best children's hospitals in America and is at the forefront of research into childhood disease. The hospital's mission is to improve the health of children by providing high-quality, coordinated programs of patient care, education, research and advocacy. The event included months of coordination between JR Engineering's vendor sponsors, client sponsors, and JR team of employees who rallied to find sponsors to make this charitable donation possible. The tournament consisted of two flights of golf – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Participants purchased mulligans for the charity with other purchased chances to make a hole-in-one on Hole #4. Of course, the highlight of the event was the lunch announcements and recognition where Rocky L. Carns, Vice President and COO of JR Engineering expressed gratitude to all who participated. JR invited a special guest, a patient from Children's Hospital, to accept the check on behalf of Children's Hospital. Carns presented the check from JR Engineering in the amount of $12,390.00. Several weeks after the tournament, requests to donate additional funds were still being received for JR to include with the actual donation. The special guest, a young man who is recovering from a rare form of cancer, received all of his treatment at Children's Hospital. After enduring several types of treatment including heavy chemotherapy, he is clear of any cancer that once existed. His family is overjoyed and grateful for friends, family and Children's Hospital who provided him great care. JR Engineering would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who made this contribution possible. Final donation was made to Children's Hospital in the amount of $13,239.00.
